Att arbeta med coaching

Att coacha någon är för mig att ge den personen verktyg för att själv komma närmare sitt mål. För att coacha någon, oavsett till vad, krävs ett mål. När målet är definierat kan man också börja skapa förutsättningar att uppnå det. Min roll är inte att göra saker åt individen. Min roll är att få individen så pass trygg i att göra det själv och förstå vikten av att göra det själv. 

Ett exempel: Jag möter ofta personer som har extremt svårt att ta upp telefonluren och ringa ett samtal. Låt oss säga att det är till en arbetsgivare för att söka ett jobb. För mig är det inget svårt, jag kan ringa det samtalet. Men vad händer då? Lär sig individen något? Nej. Vad händer då om jag lyckas, med olika tekniker, att få individen så pass trygg att hen själv ringer?

Ökat självförtroende. JAG gjorde det själv. 

Och det viktigaste av allt. Individen driver sin egna process framåt. Enligt mig är den bästa coachen den som inte gör någonting. Utan får andra att göra. 

Men att arbeta med coaching kräver att du är beredd på att ge mycket. Mycket av din energi. Och ibland, eller kanske allt som oftast, inte riktigt få tillbakakaka på det. Du behöver vara beredd på det och kunna finna energikällor på annat håll. Personer i utsatta lägen, likt de personer jag oftast hjälper, tenderar att bli väldigt egoistiska vilket i en förlängning gör att de tar mer energi än de ger. Hur som helst är det alltid lika fantastiskt att se personer göra framsteg. Och framförallt, när personerna verkligen hittar rätt.
